Hospitality glossary

Party size

The number of guests included in one reservation or walk-in group.

Why it matters

How party size affects a service

Party size affects table fit, duration, deposit rules, menu planning and availability. Adults, children and non-seated attendees may also need to be distinguished operationally.

Example

In practice

A booking for four adults and two children has a party size of six even if one child uses a high chair.
