Direct booking

A reservation made through a venue's own website, social profile or booking link rather than a third-party marketplace.

Why it matters

How direct booking affects a service

Direct bookings keep the venue's brand at the centre of the journey and can reduce reliance on variable marketplace fees. They also make it easier to connect the reservation to a usable guest relationship, subject to the venue's privacy and marketing permissions.

Example

In practice

A guest taps Reserve on a restaurant's Instagram profile, opens the restaurant's branded UpSalt flow and confirms from live availability. That reservation is direct even though the journey started on social media.
