Occupancy rate

The percentage of available seats, tables or bookable assets occupied during a selected period.

Why it matters

How occupancy rate affects a service

Occupancy helps operators compare demand with usable capacity. It should be read alongside revenue and pacing because a full room is not automatically the most profitable or operationally balanced outcome.

Example

In practice

If 54 of 60 available seats are occupied at 20:00, seat occupancy is 90%.
