Direct reservations give the venue more control over the experience, guest relationship and acquisition cost. Growth comes from making the direct path easier to find and easier to complete, not merely adding another booking button.

01

Remove discovery friction

Place a consistent reservation action in the website header, venue pages, Google Business Profile and social profiles. Use deep links where possible so guests land in the relevant date, event or venue flow.

02

Improve booking conversion

Keep the mobile flow short, show real availability and explain policies before the final action. Avoid forcing account creation. Measure starts, available-time views, checkout steps and confirmations to locate abandonment.

Direct path audit

Remove one point of friction at each discovery source

Guests who already searched for the venue should not have to rediscover the booking path through a marketplace.

03

Create reasons to book direct

Offer accurate availability, preferred packages, easier changes or access to selected inventory. Do not create misleading scarcity or penalise guests who use other channels.

04

Build repeat demand

Use guest history to shape relevant service follow-ups and repeat-booking journeys. Track repeat direct bookings separately from first-time acquisition.

05

Procurement and operating depth

Map branded search behaviour separately from new discovery. Guests searching the restaurant name already intend to find the venue, so the direct booking action should be prominent, fast and consistent across the website, search profile and social links. Marketplace exposure can still serve discovery, but paying variable acquisition cost for repeat or branded demand should be visible in the channel review.

Venue-specific application

A realistic operator example

A restaurant receives 1,000 seated covers a month, of which 420 arrive through its website and 580 through third parties or phone bookings. The first target is not to eliminate every marketplace booking; it is to make the direct path easiest for guests already seeking the brand. The venue improves booking calls to action, removes an unnecessary account step and adds the direct link to confirmations and owned profiles. It then measures direct seated covers rather than clicks alone.

  • Audit every owned booking entry point
  • Make availability reachable in one clear action
  • Test the mobile flow without an account
  • Use consistent links across search, social and email
  • Track booking source through to seated status
  • Give returning guests a reason to book direct again
