Card guarantee

A payment-card authorisation used to secure a reservation without necessarily charging money when the booking is made.

Why it matters

How card guarantee affects a service

A card guarantee can discourage no-shows while creating less upfront friction than prepayment. Any possible charge, deadline and dispute process must be clearly disclosed to the guest.

Example

In practice

A venue securely captures card details and charges €30 per person only if the party does not attend under the accepted policy.
